An 8-night adventure for families ready to explore the best of Costa Rica. Wander hanging bridges in the misty highlands of Arenal, spy sloths in the treetops, and dip your toes in the Pacific at Manuel Antonio. Along the way, bond over wildlife encounters, soft adventure, and a hands-on chocolate-making experience to sweeten the journey.
Arenal, Monteverde & Manuel Antonio
Day 1: Arrival in Arenal
Arrive in San José and journey north by private driver to the lush lowlands of Arenal. Check into Lomas del Volcán, a charming lodge with wooden bungalows and volcano views. Unwind with a walk along the nature trail or relax by the pool as birds flit through the trees.
Day 2: Hanging bridges & hot springs
Walk Arenal’s iconic hanging bridges with a naturalist guide, spotting monkeys, sloths, and birds high in the canopy. In the afternoon, soak in the thermal pools at Ecotermales, surrounded by rainforest. Dinner is included onsite before a relaxing evening back at the lodge.
Day 3: Choose your own adventure
Today is yours to shape. Visit Fortuna Waterfall, kayak across Lake Arenal, explore town, or head to Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue for hands-on animal encounters. Prefer to stay in? Laze by the pool or stroll the lodge’s quiet forest trails.
Day 4: Into the cloud forest
Travel by road into Monteverde’s cool, mist-shrouded mountains. Check into Senda Monteverde, a cozy eco-lodge nestled in the hills. After sunset, head out on a guided night walk to spot sleeping birds, glowing frogs, and curious nocturnal creatures.
Day 5: Ziplining & butterfly gardens
Fly through the forest canopy on a family-friendly zipline tour. After lunch, visit a local butterfly garden, where vibrant wings flutter all around. Back at Senda, unwind with games by the fire or a soak in the hot tub.
Day 6: From forest to sea
Descend to the Pacific coast and arrive at Tulemar Resort, a jungle-cloaked retreat above the ocean. Settle into your villa and spend the afternoon by one of the resort’s pools or down at the private beach.
Day 7: Wildlife & waves
Explore Manuel Antonio National Park with a naturalist guide, tracking sloths, monkeys, and colorful birds. Later, take a beginner surf lesson on Playa Playitas—perfect for kids, teens, and first-timers. Return to Tulemar for sunset and sea breezes.
Day 8: Chocolate making & beach time
Wrap up your stay with a private chocolate-making workshop in Quepos, learning the bean-to-bar process before crafting your own treats. Spend the rest of the day at the beach or pool. Need a quiet moment? Babysitting is available while you unwind.
Day 9: Departure from Manuel Antonio
After breakfast, your private transfer returns you to San José for your onward flight. Volcanoes, cloud forest, and coastline now in the rearview—but pura vida travels with you.
Situated on a quiet, tree-shaded street in San José, Grano de Oro is a grand tropical mansion reimagined with quiet elegance. Inside, neoclassical charm meets modern ease with stained glass, warm woods, and rooms that open to leafy courtyards. Enjoy refined dining, a rooftop jacuzzi beneath the stars, and an award-winning wine cellar, all just steps from the pulse of the city.
Cradled between jungle canals and the Caribbean Sea, Mawamba Lodge invites you to slow down and listen. Wooden cabins sit among humming gardens where toucans call and monkeys swing past your porch. Days drift between river safaris, quiet swims, and open-air meals beneath the palms. Remote and unhurried, it is Tortuguero in its purest form: alive, lush, and wonderfully untamed.
Nestled in the foothills of Arenal, Lomas del Volcán offers quiet comfort with front-row views of the volcano. Freestanding bungalows pair rustic charm with modern ease, each with a private terrace facing the jungle or peaks beyond. Stroll garden paths, swim beneath the trees, and savor local flavors at Hojarasca restaurant, all in a setting that feels relaxed, welcoming, and close to nature.
Lagarta feels like a gallery built by the sea, where tropical modernism meets wild terrain and each hour unfolds in warm, golden light. Perched above Playa Pelada, the lodge offers panoramic views, sunset-facing suites, and a nature reserve at your doorstep. Drift between infinity pools, jungle paths, and long, lingering meals served with salt air and soft elegance. It’s a place that invites pause, reflection, and quiet awe.
