When to Visit Panama
Panama’s dry season runs from mid-December to April, bringing sunny skies and calm seas to both coasts. This is the best time for island-hopping in San Blas, wildlife viewing in the highlands, and exploring Panama City’s historic districts.
The green season (May to November) brings more rain, especially in the afternoons, but also lush scenery, fewer crowds, and excellent value. The Caribbean coast often sees shorter, lighter showers compared to the Pacific side.
Wildlife highlights include humpback whale migrations from July to October, particularly along the Pacific coast, and prime birdwatching in the highlands from January to April. The country’s vibrant Carnaval celebrations take place in February or March, with parades and music filling towns and cities.
