Day 2: Into the wild
Travel east through misty mountains and tropical plantations before boarding a riverboat bound for Tortuguero. Arrive at Mawamba Lodge in time for lunch, then paddle quiet jungle canals by kayak, watching for herons, monkeys, and caimans along the way.

Day 3: Wildlife encounters by land and sea
Wake early for birdwatching in the forest. Cruise the waterways with a naturalist guide in search of sloths, toucans, and howler monkeys. After dark, spot red-eyed tree frogs in the gardens and head to the beach for a rare glimpse of sea turtles nesting by moonlight.
